This website is operated on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany). The server is located in Germany. When you visit this site, your browser automatically transmits technical data to the server (browser type, operating system, referrer URL, time of request, IP address), which is stored temporarily in log files to ensure secure and stable operation. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
This website uses TLS encryption. You can recognise this by the “https://” in the address bar and the lock icon in your browser.
If you sign up for the newsletter on this page, we process the email address you provide in order to send you the free novella The Second Cup and, later, occasional updates about new books.
Double opt-in. After you submit your email address, we send you a confirmation email. Only once you click the confirmation link is your address added to the active mailing list. This protects you from someone signing up an address that isn't theirs. We store your IP address and the time of sign-up and confirmation as proof of consent.
Software (Listmonk). The mailing list itself is managed with Listmonk, open-source software that we operate ourselves on a server in Germany (Hetzner), reachable at news.meerakane.com. No data is shared with Listmonk as a company — it is self-hosted software, not a third-party service.
Delivery (Brevo). Emails are technically delivered through Brevo SA (55 Rue d'Amsterdam, 75008 Paris, France), an email service provider based in the EU. Brevo acts as our processor under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) and only sends emails on our instruction — it does not use your data for its own purposes. Because Brevo is based in France, no data leaves the EU for this purpose. More information: Brevo's privacy policy.
Legal basis. Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent, given when you sign up and confirm).
Withdrawal. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email, or by writing to info@meerakane.com. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it. Upon unsubscribing, your address is removed from the active list; a minimal record may be kept to document that you unsubscribed and to prevent re-adding you by mistake.
Retention. Your data is stored for as long as you remain subscribed. Sign-up and confirmation records (email, IP, timestamps) are kept as proof of consent for as long as legally required, then deleted.
If you write to info@meerakane.com, we use the data you provide (email address, message content, and any name you give us) solely to answer your message. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to enquiries). We delete this correspondence once your enquiry is resolved, unless we are legally required to retain it longer.
Access, rectification, erasure (Art. 15–17 GDPR): you may request information about the personal data we hold about you, and request that it be corrected or deleted.
Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) and data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) are available under the conditions set out in the GDPR.
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): where processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object at any time for reasons relating to your particular situation.
Right to complain: you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority — for Saxony: Saxon Data Protection Officer.

This policy applies to meerakane.com only. Cindermere's main site, cindermere.com, has its own privacy policy.
