About Meera Kane
Literary sapphic fiction set in contemporary India — from an author who stays behind the books.
Meera Kane writes literary sapphic fiction set in contemporary India — slow-burn love stories about family, secrecy, shame, and the long walk toward being known. Meera Kane writes the women who run, and the ones who keep the light on and wait.
Meera Kane is the author of Bound by Mumbai, a ten-volume series published by Cindermere. The first novel, Priya's Surrender, is published on 21 September 2026. A prequel novella, What We Never Said at Dawn, is available free to newsletter readers.
The books are closed-door romances by deliberate choice. The tension lives in what isn't said — in the looking away, the coded conversation, the sentence that never gets finished. Meera Kane is more interested in the morning after than the night itself.
Some things you don't inherit. You choose them.
Away from the page
Meera Kane keeps her private life private and would rather let the books do the talking. No readings, no public appearances, no audio or video interviews. Written interviews are always welcome — enquiries go to Cindermere, the publisher.
This is not mystique and it is not a marketing device. The reticence is deliberate, and it is meant to leave the books standing on their own. What is real is the work.
The series
Bound by Mumbai follows Priya Sharma and Shanti across ten volumes, from a dawn sea wall in Bandra to the life they eventually build in daylight. The series is told in three parts, and begins with Priya's Surrender. The full list is on the books page.
